The School of Food Technology and the School of Dairy Technology have been established under the Directorate of Advanced Institute for Integrated Research on Livestock and Animal Sciences (AIIRLIVAS) with the objective of strengthening professional education, skill development, and research in the domains of food and dairy sciences. These schools have been instituted to meet the growing demand for qualified technical professionals in the food processing and dairy sectors, which play a crucial role in national food security, nutrition, and rural economic development.
From the academic year 2025–2026, the institute has commenced Undergraduate Programmes leading to the award of B.Tech. (Food Technology) and B.Tech. (Dairy Technology). These programmes are designed in alignment with contemporary industry requirements, regulatory guidelines, and emerging technological advancements. The curriculum emphasizes a balanced integration of theoretical knowledge, practical training, laboratory exposure, industrial orientation, and research-based learning.
The admission process for the inaugural batch was conducted through a structured and transparent counselling mechanism, ensuring adherence to prescribed eligibility criteria and merit-based selection. The counselling process was completed successfully, and students from diverse academic backgrounds were admitted to both programmes. Following the completion of admissions, the first semester classes commenced on 10.11.2025, marking the formal launch of academic activities for the newly established schools.
The academic framework is supported by qualified faculty members, modern laboratories, instructional facilities, and access to institutional resources. Students are exposed to core areas such as food processing technologies, dairy production and management, quality assurance, food safety, equipment operation, and value-added product development. Emphasis is also placed on entrepreneurship, innovation, sustainability, and compliance with national and international standards.
The establishment of the School of Food Technology and School of Dairy Technology under AIIRLIVAS represents a significant step toward multidisciplinary education and capacity building in agri-food and livestock-based industries. These programmes aim to produce technically competent, industry-ready graduates equipped with scientific knowledge, practical skills, and ethical values to contribute effectively to academia, industry, research organizations, and the entrepreneurial ecosystem.
